This is indeed an important question. It may not have the same importance for all of us but it is without a doubt a more necessary question than ever before due to the unpredictable time we live in. Sure, I myself prefer to look up into the beautiful skies, be it day or night. I too enjoy the blue space on a sunlit summerday, or watch the clouds as they fly by, even the stormladden heavy ones; it never gets boring. And how about the nightskies with all the stars, and the moon walking in its own silver cloth that is different every day. What a beautiful display it is. But, it is an illusion regardless, because what we see is not what is, only for our eyes it presents that picture. However! It does not matter that we know of the deception, it still has the magic; and, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the picture, nor is wanting to know more about reality as we look farther into space with the help of stronger eyes..
We know, looking in always abolishes illusions therefore preferring to continue to deceive ourselves, ly to ourself, and don't care about facts and reality. Looking in is challenging, at least in the beginning, or often enough, it is too demanding, because reality, and thus the truth, is not easy to handle.
But let us talk about the looking in, I want to address specifically. Being forced at this point in time all humans are required to confront ourselves far beyond our mirror reflection. The pleasure of looking up must take second place. Though let us still enjoy it as a relieve and joyful resting place to recover from the looking in, into ourselves that is, since may feel utterly drained, disheartened, even in despair by realizing what we find in the depths of our own being is not what we expected. In fact, it may be confronting and hard to accept. Besides, it is an ardent journey through our layers of body and mind before we reach the highly mysterious place deep inside of us, called spirit, or soul. We may have difficulty to recognize it, or it may be an empty cave, not a place that sparkles like an otherworldly treasure trove made from deposits of minerals by water over the aeons of time. Or it may be a fortress with thick impenetrable walls, which we cannot enter because having lost the keys that open the doors. Or we may not dare to open anyway in fear of what could be hidden inside. Unfortunately, no matter what we will have to face, facing it we must. All of us will need to look in, regardless of what we may or may not find, because now is the time of truth. No one can run away from their own core. Usually, as an individuum we all know that time comes, at latest, on "Judgement Day", if you are a believer. But I say it comes when one is forced to let go of life. People fear death more than Judgement Day, because God forgives the sinner, but letting go of life is the time where you are on your own with yourself. You can no longer run, you cannot hide, indeed, it may be the truly scariest time of life alltogether. However! Even on death's bed, we always have a choice consisting of four options: Actively taking the step forward to face what we avoided to do, or refuse any step while clinging on to past excuses, or letting time bring the resolution and surrender to the inevitable. Or finally, turning a blind eye in denial, thus continue to carry the burden as if it was a tumor never to be shed. Sadly, whatever one chooses, every option comes with its own consequences trailing close behind.
The human species as a whole has reached a point of development where it seriously is challenged to either survive or vanish. It is no longer just a personal decion of what needs to be done. And since we never looked at our detrimental attitude towards life, it now presents the bill! There is no escape. It is nature's ultimatum, not yours nor anybody elses. It is a natural development, an evolutionary event, like it, or not. And looking into the sky for help is futile. God is not there! But His light is! In fact, this light is not just an external light source, like the sun. It is within everything that is, meaning, it is also in us, in every single one of us, no matter in what size, in what fire, in what splendour, or strength. There, inside us, we find the revelation we seek, the answer to all the questions. Some people call it enlightenment, named thus appropriately when it enters our conscious mind. And yes, the fear to face the light is justified for the sole reason that it is the final truth, which can be truly unpleasant, if not unbearable. For some the light may shine too bright, for others it is reduced to a spot of amber, waiting for a spark to be rekindled but many shying away for the light may hurt them too much..
Therefor, looking up, into the sky, is nice, but looking in is unavoidable, if our species is to survive as human beings. I can only wish, or hope that humans realize what is at stake. But one thing is certain, the light is not our enemy. It may be overwhelming, but it is pure love, in which we can bathe and become part of it. No sky above can match its joy and glory.
